Kris started as a carer in aged care while she undertook RN training. She then worked as an RN in surgery, medical and cardiac nursing and theatre, before training as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in neuroscience, dealing with traumatic brain injuries.

Nurse Management roles led to projects with Area Health Services. “During this time I saw the impact of the ageing population and their various health needs,” Kris says.

Kris has progressed in her career at ARV, starting as RACF Manager and holding other key management roles. “I really relate to the organisation’s vision, ‘Creating Communities of Christian Care’. ARV is a well respected industry leader,” she says. “I love working in aged care. It is a most rewarding profession.”

Kris leads a “group of expert clinicians responsible for identifying innovative models of care so that ARV maintains a high standard of resident care.” They administer essential programs such as palliative care, dementia care and better balance (falls prevention).

According to Kris, “ARV externally benchmarks clinical indicators to ensure we perform at the highest level. It is dynamic and is providing the right care models through appropriately qualified nurses. ”

“I would strongly recommend ARV and Aged Care to any RN aspiring to a wonderful and rewarding career. ARV promotes education and supports staff in learning. I have personally had many opportunities to have my opinions count, to create and be a part of innovation and change,” she says.
