Low Care Financial Information

Schedule of Fees and Charges

There are three fees and charges that can be levied in low care.

  • Accommodation bond & accompanying interest charges
  • Basic Daily Care Fee
  • Income Tested fee

Accommodation Bond

For those assessed by the Department of Health and Ageing as a fully supported resident; no accommodation bond is payable. For those assessed as partially supported, a reduced bond is payable.

Accommodation bonds start at $192,000 and will vary depending on room size, view and aspect. A deposit of 10% is required by the date of admission.

For reduced bonds, a $19,000 deposit is required by the date of admission.

You have six months to pay any outstanding bond amount, however interest is charged from the date of entry on outstanding bond amounts at a rate prescribed by the Commonwealth Government. This interest is direct debited fortnightly along with the daily care fee and any applicable income tested fee.

Bonds may be paid by lump sum and/or periodic payments. (Interest applies.)

Anglican Retirement Villages currently retains $3,816 per year ($318.00 per month) from the Accommodation Bond for a maximum of 5 years (60 months.)

Basic Daily Care Fee

Daily Care Fees are set by the Commonwealth Government and are directly debited fortnightly in advance. They are increased twice yearly on 20 March and 20 September in line with government pension increases. Rates applying to new residents who have entered permanent residential aged care on or after 20 March 2011 are as follows:

Standard Basic Daily Fee:* $41.34 per day, $578.76 per fortnight
Phased Basic Daily Fee: $39.86 per day, $558.04 per fortnight

* Applies to full pensioners, some part pensioners and residents who haven’t provided income & asset information to Centrelink.

Income Tested Fee

Residents who are part pensioners or non pensioners may pay some Income Tested Fee as determined by Centrelink or the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. The Department of Health & Ageing will advise both Anglican Retirement Villages and the resident of the assessed income tested fee. This fee will then apply from the date of admission and will be direct debited along with the basic daily care fees.
