Brian

OHS and Injury Management Manager

Certificates in OHS and Injury Management, Workplace Trainer and Assessor

Brian, armed with more than 38 years experience in workers’ compensation insurance, and then banking, was happy to bring his knowledge to a Christian organisation when he joined ARV.

“I appreciate being part of an organisation that builds into the lives of others,” he said. “ARV expresses and demonstrates a care for its employees, extending beyond its legal requirement to provide a safe place of work.”

He has been instrumental in applying that care throughout the organisation, upholding and developing industry-leading processes for minimising workplace injury and for responsibly managing its occurrence.

Brian said, “The opportunity exists for us to demonstrate in our systems and processes a genuine care for our people. ARV adopts a family care model that assists staff through the whole process. Managers/supervisors are engaged in treatment solutions and we identify best medical practices to ensure the right diagnosis is made, regardless of cost.”

Brian has seen the tangible benefits to ARV in fostering a culture of care among employees, particularly those who may experience workplace injury.

“As Christians we can care for our staff in all circumstances and, when we are called upon to pay, we do so generously,” Brian said. “And the spin off just happens to be early and meaningful return to work after injury which is the best outcome for everyone. It also means dramatically reduced insurance premiums, releasing valuable funds for ARVs primary purpose, care of older Australians.”
